Yoga
What is Yoga?
Yoga poses are great to strengthen and relax the body, but there's a lot more to Yoga than that.
Derived from the Sankrit word "yuj" which means "to unite or integrate" yoga is a 5,000+ year old Indian body of knowledge. Yoga is all about harmonizing the body with the mind and breath through the means of various breathing exercises, yoga poses (asanas) and meditation.
SRI SRI YOGA
A HOLISTIC YOGA WORKSHOP
Our primary yoga workshop, Sri Sri Yoga teaches a holistic way of life that
integrates all elements of Yoga, making a prayerful discipline that unites the
body, mind and soul.
Along with the series of simple, yet effective yoga postures and breathing
techniques, a greater emphasis is placed on the experience of meditation, and
practical yoga philosophy.
In Sri Sri Yoga Course, the wisdom and techniques of yoga are taught in a
pure, joyful and thorough manner. The program restores balance by helping to
strengthen our body, calm our mind, regain our focus and improve
self-confidence.
Regular practitioners experience healthier, happier living with reduced
anxiety, increased tolerance and mindfulness. Some have reported relief from
chronic illnesses.
Yoga Breathing Exercises
Breathing exercises, or Pranayama, are a central part of yoga, which help us calm the mind. Prana, means breath or life force energy. Yama means to house or store. Thus, Pranayama is the art of building up and storing our life force energy. Breathing techniques also prepare us for a deeper experience of meditation.
